This series consists of requests received by the Governor's office for information under the Freedom of Information Act. Information found in these records may include the original request, the written reply by the Governor's staff, and copies of the information delivered. In some cases, the individual was requested to make an appointment to view the information at the Governor's office or were directed to specific state agencies for the information.
Scope and Content:
Electronic records in this series consist of of a portion of six e-mail folders of Governor Mark Sanford from May-December 2008 and February-June 2009. The records are made up of over 3,300 pages of printed e-mails which were digitized and converted to Portable Document Format (.pdf) files. Due to the narrow time frame of the records, this conglomeration of e-mails resulted from a FOIA request regarding the Governor's disappearance and extramarital incident in 2009. The first two files represent the inbox and outbox of the Governor's PDA from February-June 2009 and May-September 2008, respectively. The third file contains three e-mails covering June 15-22, 2009. The Governor's regular work inbox is represented in the fourth file, which spans September 2008 to June 2009, but is not arranged in chronological order. The last two files contain the Governor's inbox and outbox for his public e-mail account for May 2008 to July 2009 and March 2008 to June 2009, respectively.
