Operating Environments

The operating environment is the technology context of how records in SCERA were originally created. While SCERA is able to provide access to records created by government agencies, it cannot recreate or simulate the operating environment under which the records were originally created. In some rare cases, the ability to recreate or simulate the original operating environment of the state agency can be important to a researcher.

To help users who need to recreate the original operating environment under which the records were created, as much as possible SCERA will gather information regarding the generic operating environment of agencies. This information will be about the typical computer hardware/software set-up for an agency employee, and WILL NOT include information specific to any one agency employee unless it is critical to how the records were created.

More information to come as agency operating environment information becomes available.
