Scope and Content:
This series consists of a Filemaker Pro 3 (.fp3), Microsoft Access 97 database, and derivative database versions that provide index access to much of the correspondence of the Beasley gubernatorial administration. Some of the indexed correspondence was not transferred to the repository. The Beasley administration numbered incoming correspondence and tracked it through a FileMaker Pro database. Shortly after receipt of the database, this data was converted to Microsoft Access 97 by the repository and allows queries by name of correspondent and name of respondent. Some subject retrieval is possible through a keyword search of the Inquiry, Comment, Pro Legislation, and Con Legislation fields. Search results from the MS Access database are arranged by date received. Note that subjects of correspondence and personal names were not always entered in the database in a consistent way. Additional Filemaker (.fp7), Microsoft Access 2007 (.accdb), spreadsheet (.ods), comma-separated value (.csv), and eXtensible Markup Language (.xml) copies of the database were created in 2015 from the original Filemaker Pro database. The database contains records for over 72,000 pieces of correspondence. The original FileMaker contained reports used by the Division of Ombudsman and Citizen Services to track correspondence and generate statistics. Screenshots were taken of the original reports in FileMaker Pro to provide a representation of their original appearance and format.

If attempting to access the MS Access versions of the database, Microsoft Access 1997 or later is necesary. If attempting to access the XML version of the database, a html viewer or text editor is necessary.
