Information generally includes date and time of meeting, claim approvals, petitions, bids, proposals, summary on other matters discussed, resolutions and/or ordinances adopted, date of next meeting, and name of clerk and council members. Business usually centered on county finances; approval of claims; tax estimates for county expenses; requests to the General Assembly; bids and contracts for various construction projects; construction and repair of roads, bridges, ferries, jails, and public buildings; rights-of-way for roads; fines and exemptions for defaulters of road duty; and various requests and complaints relating to such matters as care of the poor and prisoners, confinement of lunatics, hospital treatment, and other county services.
