The Real Estate Appraisers Board was created in 1991 with the purpose of regulating the real estate appraisers industry within the state. The Board establishes requirements for licensure and continuing education and holds hearings for disciplinary issues. Effective 1994, the Government Restructuring Act of 1993 transferred all independent regulatory agencies under the newly formed Dept. of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. The Board operates pursuant to Sections 40-60-5, et. seq., and 40-1-1, et. seq., Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, as amended.
