Gov. Mark Sanford has more than $1.76 million left in his re-election campaign account, and his former campaign manager said the Republican has plans for the cash.
“Governor Sanford will use these funds to promote the legislative agenda he campaigned on, particularly restructuring, limiting spending and lowering taxes, and to assist those in the legislative process who support that vision,” said Jason Miller, who directed Sanford’s victory over Democratic state Sen. Tommy Moore in November. Miller is now Sanford’s deputy chief of staff for coalitions and strategic planning.
Sanford raised more than $8.46 million and spent $7.2 million. Moore raised and spent more than $3 million.
