ANDERSON, S.C. - State Rep. Brian White has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee, which helps craft the state's budget.

White, R-Anderson, replaces recently elected House Speaker Bobby Harrell, R-Charleston, who had chaired the committee.

The 38-year-old real estate agent had previously served on the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee.

He was first elected to the House in 2000.
