School was canceled on October 2nd due to the weather when you declared a state of emergency. I certainly appreciate you making the safety of our students a top priority. I am asking that you pardon the day so that it does not have to be made up. I am not asking selfishly because I want a day off. It is because my district will take away an upcoming teacher workday. I know I speak for many kindergarten teachers and we all desperately need a workday. On top of our usual responsibilites, we now are in the midst of completing DRA-2 testing on every kindergartener. We need the workday to imput data and also to analyze the data to guide instruction. Please take into consideration how your decision to pardon or not pardon the day directly effects teachers and the quaility of the lessons we plan and teach. Thank you for your time.
