Govoner Haley,
     My husband is employed at Century Aluminum.   He is 59 years old - not able to retire yet and getting to be too old to find employment somewhere else that can financially support us.  He loves his job and the people he works for and works with. 
Not only have Alcoa and Century provided much help to their employees,  they both have been a great asset to the Charleston area helping out different organizations and encouraging us to do our share for the community. 
     Century Aluminum has only been here a year but they have already left a big impact on their employees - treating their employees with kindness and respect.   They have taken up where Alcoa left off in our community.   The closure of the plant would be detrimental in so many ways!  So many people, including my husband will lose their livelihood,  a means of security,  a way of life that will be forever changed.  Many young families will struggle to find a means of support.   Organizations will also loose support and less people will be helped.  This is all so much of a domino effect!
     You once said your motto was on a plaque on the door to your office that said, "Can't Is Not An Option".  You also said, "We're not going to stop fighting until everyone in our state can achieve their hopes and dreams." (Palmetto magazine, Sprimg/Summer 2015 issue).  Please help all who are employed at Century Aluminum acheive their dream by keeping their job.
