We waited over a year for the immigration process for our children, filling out paperwork, background checks, thousands of dollars, all while a baby orphan waited in Korea!~ I hope you understand that just because someone is a refuge that it is not ok to bring in our homeland without the proper back ground checks. I am all for immigration, legal. I moved her this year from NY, and I am tired of watching everyone from the police to Social Services look the other way while people are here illegally. Why should people who follow the law continue to, when those who don't are allowed to continue? I've watched illegal apartments house 12 illegal people in a basement, but no one from the housing dept to the immigration are instructed to do anything about it. No one wants to violate anyone's rights and that is important. But the right for all of us not to pay both through terrorism, taxes, services, for people who did not come here through proper channels lowers the standards of living for all of us. In light of Paris, I think we really need to look at this. From those who come to work in Myrtle Beach from abroad to the refuges. It is very important in this day and time to have all the person's history! Taking a statement from someone does what? And make sure American's who want to work are BEFORE taking in more. It's a sad way to have jobs and $ go to people who are not paying in, while others work so hard. But just like my children, waiting in foster care for months and months without a family.....because we did things the legal correct way! It's a slap in their faces to watch as so many ignore or go around the standards that we were told was imperative! Our newborn children posed no terrorist threat yet they we're subject to all kinds of investigation as we were.....just because someone is a refuge doesn't make them in more need than a newborn child. In fact, the opposite in my opinion. I hope you think about it! SC is far removed from the NY city and the terrorism we suffered, it changes everything.....you never feel totally safe again. When the security is up, the military, the bridges, the tunnels....it never totally goes away now....unfortunately that is the world now. I just hope you speak up and do what you can to make it a safer place for everyone! And look at all of us who always go by the rules! So many of us do! Sincerely, Sandra Unger
