board
Associated Press
COLUMBIA --
James H. Williams of Easley was named to the state Board of Paroles and
Pardons.
Williams was appointed by Gov. Mark Sanford and confirmed by the
Senate this month. He will represent the 3rd Congressional District.
Williams
is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a military policeman. He has
worked in secondary and post-secondary education for 30 years and currently is
dean of students at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton.
He has a
bachelor's degree from Voorhees College and a master's from Clemson
University.
The board meets about five times a month to consider the parole
of some 8,000 inmates yearly, plus several hundred pardon applications a
year.
