Sue & Hal,

I talked to Mr. David Dunn per your request.  Due to the changes in United Healthcare Life Insurance coverage plans in South Carolina next year, Mr. & Mrs. Dunn are losing their individual health insurance coverage at the end of December.   Mr. Dunn was looking for individual health insurance that included MUSC as part of the medical provider network.   We have found only one such provided (Cigna) that issues individual policies in the Charleston, SC area that has MUSC in its provider network.  I informed Mr. Dunn and he was very pleased that we had found him a possible insurance carrier that meet his specific needs.  There is no guarantee that Cigna will remain in the individual market going forward, but the fact that they are still in the market is a good sign.

As the health insurance market continues to consolidate with fewer choices, this is going to be a continuing problem. Mr. Dunn wanted to be sure that the Governor understood that consolidation of the health insurance was putting a strain for folks seeking individual insurance plans in the  Charleston area of SC.

I hoped this helped.
