House Speaker David Wilkins is used to enduring one-liners from House Ma-joke-ity, er, Majority Leader Jim Merrill.

But at Tuesday’s Republican Caucus meeting, Wilkins got a line of his own in.

After Merrill, R-Charleston, introduced his 7-year-old daughter Delaney, who was visiting for the day, Wilkins suggested she should run for her dad’s seat.

“She’d bring some maturity to the House,” he said.
