In January, the Governor looks forward to working with members of the General Assembly to pass a comprehensive ethics reform package that includes requiring independent oversight of ethics laws of the legislature, strengthening conflicts of interest laws to require the disclosure of private income, and clarifying election and campaign finance laws. The Governor never forgets that the people created our government, and the government works for the people. Passing a strong ethics reform bill would help restore the public's trust in its government, updating and strengthening state ethics laws which have not been comprehensively reformed since their passage more than 20 years ago following Operation Lost Trust. If you would like to discuss your opinions or concerns about ethics reform with a member of the Governor's staff, then please give me a call. I can be reached directly at 803-734-6068. Dear Mr. Odom,

Thank you contacting the Governor's Office with your concern about ethics reform, a legislative item that Governor Haley will continue to keep at the top of her agenda next legislative session.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Schimsa

Office of the Governor
