Subject: Jim Hamilton - LB Owens Airport (CUB) 85th Anniversary Proclamation request

Ms Thomas,

Good afternoon, ma’am.

I am Chris Eversmann, the Airport Director of the Jim Hamilton – LB Owens Airport (CUB) (formerly known as “Owens Field”) here in Columbia.

We are preparing to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the airport at the end of April and respectfully request that consideration be given to the presentation of a Governor’s proclamation  in honor of this milestone of aviation service.  Please note that we are the oldest public use airport in the Midlands and one of the oldest in the State.  Also, as the primary general aviation airport serving the Capital City, Governor John G. Richards was a participant in the “Dedication Exercises” of the Airport on April 24, 1930.

I have drafted a proclamation for your review.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Christopher S. Eversmann, PE, AAE
