(Columbia-AP) -- Governor Mark Sanford is
threatening to veto parts of the state budget that a
conference committee is working on today.
Sanford
wrote lawmakers late last week, outlining his
concerns.
He's worried that not enough money is going
to restore the state's reserve funds or trust funds that have
been raided to balance the budget for the past three
years.
Sanford also says the General Assembly should
not be counting on $90 million from increased tax collection
enforcement.
He is concerned because much of that money
is being set aside to pay for several of his Cabinet
agencies.
Sanford says if the spending plan lawmakers
are expected to approve this week doesn't address the
concerns, he may have no choice but to veto all or substantial
parts of the budgets. |
