Lawmakers Sign Off on Budget
Compromise |
COLUMBIA, S.C.
(AP) - With deals approved on property taxes, House members
finally agreed to sign off on a budget compromise
Wednesday.
Within a couple of hours, the Senate gave
final approval to the six-point-six billion dollar-spending
plan. The House was took up those bills, too.
But the
Legislature is still going to have to come back in the next
couple of weeks to deal with a pile of vetoes Governor Mark
Sanford is expected to unleash on the spending plan. That
extra time costs around $50,000 a day if legislators
voluntarily return and $80,000 daily if the governor orders
them back.
