DNR Law Enforcement donates 300 toys to Toys for Tots
The SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Law Enforcement in a division-wide effort and in coordination with community partners donated more than 300 new toys to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program on Dec. 13.
Agency director Alvin Taylor noted DNR has donated items to various charities in the past, "This is the first year we've worked with the Toys for Tots program and we hope to make this an ongoing event."
The Dixie High School Anglers and the Abbeville High School Panther Fishing Team also donated to the effort of new toys through DNR.
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas and to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children. Since beginning the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in 1947, Marines have distributed more than 452 million toys to more than 209 million needy children. Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has supplemented local toy collections with more than 98 million toys valued at more than $694 million; plus provided promotion and support materials valued at over $8.5 million.
