Sanford Vetoes Entire State
Budget |
COLUMBIA, S.C.
(AP) - A spokesman for Governor Mark Sanford says the governor
has vetoed the entire state budget.
House Ways and
Means Chairman Dan Cooper says he has never seen a governor
veto an entire budget.
South Carolina governors can go
line-by-line and veto specific items in the state's spending
bill, but Sanford chose to veto the entire $6.6 billion
spending plan for the fiscal year that starts July
1st.
Cooper says the House will take up that veto
Wednesday, along with several others the governor made before
the midnight Tuesday deadline.
