Last week the insurance company decided they would not continue to pay the employees even though each and every employee was assisting with moving everything and all of the equipment out of the hospital, and we were also going to help at every stage with the temporary mobile unit set up. This means that our medical, dental, vision, and life insurance etc. would be terminated as well by the end of March, along with unemployment for hundreds of employees many of whom have been with WRH 30 or more years . I hadn't been with this hospital for a year just yet but it became my home, my family, I have never felt like I fit anywhere until I started working at this hospital, I drive an hour just to work where I feel at home,I love the patients, and the community and each and every employee I have met at WRH. My director Teri Hessler, is the best boss I have ever had,I am grateful to her for hiring me and giving me a place to call home, I owe it to her to send this email. I and every other employee would work our fingers to the bone to help rebuild it doesn't matter whether we are nurses, doctors, technical support, business office, laboratory and so on, we all will be apart of rebuilding this hospital. This hospital serves a vital role for Williamsburg County and the surrounding communities, it has saved countless lives and would greatly affect the morbidity rates without its presence. Without this hospital patients once so acute they needed to be shipped to another facility such as McLeod or MUSC would die because there would not be a place like WRH to stabilize them first for transfer. The community and surrounding areas cannot survive without this hospital. I am not sure if you can help at all, or if my voice would be heard but I would be failing myself,my co-workers,my boss, and everyone apart of WRH if I did not reach out to you. Sincerely, Alycia J.
