Hello Ms. Thomas,

I was able to get your name from last year’s SC Optimist Governor, Marino Garbin.  In reading his emails to you, it appears you were able to assist him in getting a proclamation from Governor Haley issued for a specific date declaring that date as “South Carolina Optimist Day”.  I am Immediate Past Governor Garbin’s successor, and I am appealing to you for help in getting another proclamation made naming September 17, 2016 as SC Optimist Day.   Please accept my apologies for not knowing the exact terminology.

I will hold my last meeting as Governor on that date.  In that meeting we will elect my successor and all incoming SC Optimist Board members for our fiscal year 2016-2017.  Is what I am asking doable, and if so what might the next steps be?
