As part of our state robotics competition, these 6 young ladies have taken on the challenge of proposing legislation that would ban the use of non-biodegradable cigarette filters. This is part of their robotics competition. They have already had an audience with Senator Tim Scott. The idea for the meeting is to simply propose the idea to the governor and lay out the facts as they know them, then ask for the governor's opinion on the subject. These girls are ages 9-12. The have been recognized as project award winners at their recent robotics regional qualifier and won advancement to the state competition in Myrtle Beach in Feb. 2016. The team would be willing to visit the governor at her convenience in Columbia. We ask that you please consider our request. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Mega Geeks Coach, Doug Rogers, at 843-266-0723. Thank you so very much for your time and consideration. This unique STEM program is designed to encourage young people to consider opportunities and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We have a wonderful group of young ladies who would love to discuss their project idea with Governor Haley. Thank you.
