This is the information regarding The Late Johnnie Hargrove Sr.
The Hargrove Family
would love to have a Citizen Service Representative present, along with a
Letter of Condolence or a Proclamation. The Home-going Service’s for The Late
Mr. Hargrove will be held on Saturday July 28, 2015, at him Home Church
(Trinity Missionary Baptist 713 Old State Rd. Goose Creek SC).My Kindest
regards to Governor Haley and the entire staff of The Governor’s mansion. As

Johnnie
Hargrove Sr., A Native of Riceboro,
Georgia. The Son of the Late Robert
& Sarah Hargrove. born on November 22, 1919. In 1943 He married the Love of
his Life Ms. Dolly Hargrove. They were blessed with nine Children, four of whom
served our Country with great Honors. Mr. Hargrove received his education in
the Public School System of Liberty County.
In
1941, he proudly joined the
Army of The United States at Fort Benning Georgia. He was PFC Hargrove of the
1387th Military Police Co. Aviation. While Johnnie served in several
unique capacities he was cited for The following: The American Service, The
American Defense Service Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, The Good
Conduct Medal AR 600-68, and The World War II Victory Medal...
Johhnie was a Compassionate and Family Oriented Man. In
1954 he made a great decision in his life for his family to relocate to Goose
Creek S.C. He was a Well Respected Man
as he demonstrated his Love for the community and His Trinity Church Family. At over ninety-five (95) and a half years old He
was the Oldest Living African American, and The Oldest Known World War II
Veteran that resides in the Goose Creek area.
May 29, 2004 became one of the most significant and memorable
days of Mr. Hargrove’s Life. He along with several other World War II Veterans was
united for a Day of Honor in Washington D.C. That Day of Honor served as a
highlight to him because down through he shared many of his Pacific Wartime
Stories with his Children and Grandchildren.
Mr. Hargrove also recieved a Special Congressional Recognition for Serving as a Member of The United States Of America during The World War II Era. Making a difference in our World and our
future he will long be remembered by His Family, His Church Family, and for the enrichment and the Love and wisdom that he shared with our Goose Creek Community...
