Graham promoted to colonel in Air Force Reserve

Associated Press

Sen. Lindsey Graham has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Graham, R-S.C., served more than six years on active duty in the Air Force as a prosecutor and defense attorney.

After leaving the Air Force in 1989, Graham joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he served until he was elected to Congress in 1994.

During the first Gulf War, Graham was called to active duty and served at McEntire Air National Guard Base as staff judge advocate where he prepared members for deployment to the Mideast.

Graham has served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve since 1995 and is assigned as a reserve judge to the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
