Dear Govenor Hailey, I pray all is well with you and your family. I am writing because I feel stuck without direction. This pass June after the election on a new Berkeley County Sheriff, I became unemployed. I served the Sheriff office as a Lieutenant and had been employed there for 27 years. I do understand that I worked under the pleasure of the Sheriff and he is in his right to dismiss or retain as he chooses. However, I am 52 years old and have worked since I was 16 years old with the exception of college, never relying on government assistance and now that I'm in need, my options are little to none or I just maybe ignorant to what they are. After becoming unemployed at no fault of my own,I violated no policies (did nothing wrong), my unemployment has stopped (July to Dec.), I can't get affordable healthcare, don't qualify for mediçare or medicaid and I'm left with over $100,000.00 in student loans that I had to deferr along with my everyday living.I am lost! Mamm I am constantly on the job searçh, I'm not looking nor wanting a handout, I want to work. I've always worked but starting over was not in my plan. I continued my education to market myself to get promoted within the Sheriff office that didn't happen but I loved so dearly. I have a AA in Accounting, a BA in Business administration and a MPA in Public administration. Please I don't how government assistance really works but I do need help until I find a job that can pay my bills. I do believe that there are many others with this same or similar story ànd need direction as well. Any information will be greatly appreciated. "Do you have any job openings?"
