We are firm believers in the 2nd Amendment and a NRA card holder. Have participated in numerous training sessions and believe that anyone owning and carrying a fire arm should be competent.  All of my family members (4)legally own fire arms. 

We are what most would consider successful and well adjusted: college educated, home owners, solid employment history, vote and pay taxes. We carry a fire arm because of fear of the sick twists and criminals roaming in our community.

The right to bear arms should be no different than owning and operating a car.  One must have a title, a driver's license and insurance.  To have possession of a gun one should be required to pass a background check, have liability insurance and a carry license in order to take the gun off ones property. 
 
All gun transfers should be accompanied by a background check. Straw purchases and transfers, not supported by a background check, should be a felony with a loss of gun privileges.  Convicted felons arrested with a gun should receive mandatory prison time.  Gun owners involved in a straw purchase sale should face major fines or, if the gun is used in a crime by the buyer, prison time.

Medical personnel should be required to report any person deemed a risk to society in order to prevent that person from purchasing a gun

There is NO reason that South Carolina should trail the Nation in Policy and Direction.
