This is a letter written by one of your constituents; so please excuse any poor grammar or discontinuity of message. I recognize you, as a Governor, have little influence over the actions of the Congress. I also recognize that "The Governors" do have a very powerful national voice. I know you, as a matter of politics, opposed the ACA and that South Carolina does not participate to the extent of other states. I am hoping that a Republican version of same will have your support and that you will apply influence to its draft. I am a registered Republican who voted for Mr. Trump (over Ms Clinton. As someone who worked hard, sacrificed to save diligently, and, contributed to Social Security and Medicare most of my working life; I disapprove of the labeling of those Senior related benefits as Entitlements, by those in Washington. While i appreciate the economics of these programs; they clearly should not be categorized as Welfare Programs. I am now retired in South Carolina. As a Medicare recipient, I am concerned with the way in which the ACA is being repealed, without an immediate replacement. I am disturbed that my Medicare Benefits may be negatively impacted by this undertaking. I take exception to any Obama Care replacement program that, as a priority (obvious or not), enriches the Pharma / Insurance / Medical Delivery Industries, while eroding benefits to the most needy and seniors in our country. I object to any Health Care replacement program that does not include or improve upon the current Medicare benefits derived under Obama Care -- Preventative Wellness Visits, Health Screening for Cancer and Diabetes, diminishing of the Donut Hole in Medicare Part D. I am concerned that Republicans will replace Medicare with a voucher like system. It is now time for members of both parties to put campaign rhetoric behind, put aside bipartisan proclivities, and, get to work governing for all the people -- assuring the American people are protected from greed and profiteering -- protecting against the potential of negative / biased legislation, by a Republican ruled Congress. The voters sent the Republican and Democratic Parties a clear message -- They have both forsaken the people living in the "middle" and allowed "centers of influence and monetary power" to control our country. Government should now primarily focus on the good of the PEOPLE and not on the good of The CORPORATIONS. We need you and the other Governors to assure that the states are heard -- that any ACA replacement program The Congressional Republicans put in place, does not negatively impact the current benefits the people in your state (especially our most needy and retirees on fixed incomes) receive under Federal Legislation. Thank You for your service as Governor. Thank you for any potential National Level Assignment you may assume as part of Mr. Trump's Presidential team, and, for your time in reviewing this message. Respectfully Michael H SMith
