SC Counties Approved for Emergency Conservation Program Funds
(COLUMBIA)---Twenty-two counties in South Carolina have been approved
for Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funding, according to Laurie Lawson,
USDA-Farm Service Agency State Executive Director. ECP funds will be used
to provide emergency water for livestock and orchards. The counties approved
are: Abbeville, Aiken, Anderson, Berkeley, Charleston, Cherokee, Chester,
Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens,
McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Pickens, Saluda, Spartanburg, Williamsburg,
and York. An Emergency Conservation Program sign-up is being held for these
counties from August 1st through August 31st. Livestock (confined and non-confined)
and orchard producers in these counties suffering sever water shortages
should immediately contact their local Farm Service Agency office.
