The reason for the long waiting period is due to the limited specialists who work with DSS as a Contracted Certified Investigator. Upon review, I was able to find 15 DSS Certified Investigators in Spartanburg County alone that I could use. I understand that these investigators are contracted, but if you were to make this an option where the families pick the investigator, the process of adoption would go quicker and cut the cost for DSS. Many families including myself are willing to pay out of pocket for an investigator if this would reduce the waiting period. This would be a benefit to all involved especially the children waiting to be adopted into a loving home. 97.82.179.217
