Massey Sc culinary arts program for disadvantaged 2717 Newport ave Omaha NE 68112 masseyshawnwray @gmail.com 4027393159 4027393159 JOBS Training program 72.206.98.161 Dear Governor, It has always been my dream to trach culinary arts to disadvantaged individuals. My name is Shawn Massey, and I have worked across country under world class chefs and in some of the most notable eateries from North Carolina to Alaska. Maam,I recently leased a building and had planned on opening a for profit business, I couldn't help but notice the need for job training especially for certain segments of your state's population. It has been my dream to train people with limited job skills, in the profession of culinary arts.I would also like to train individuals that receive food stamp benefits in cost effective purchasing, and cost effective meal prepartion. This would teach food stamp recipients effective ways to stretch their food budget by teaching preparation of high dollar but easy to make items:pizzas, desserts, breads and such.Participants that show a willingness to learn would advance from basic food preparation to more advanced culinary techniques. Maam, I came from a disadvantaged background like many of the people I want to help. As a child I watched my mother struggle to feed us, and although she received foodstamps they never seemed to last. She like many recipients lacked basic food prep knowledge as a result she purchased items that were convenient, rather than taking the time to learn basic recipes and effective purchasing that would have stretched her food stamp allowance. I have taught a number of food stamp recipients food preparation and the results have been amazing. People who normally bought bread were amazed at how simple it is to make, more importantly they see where the bulk ingredients required to make this item is much cheaper than buying loaves from the store. In my opinion it is irresponsible to give people benefits, with no training. These individuals are often dupped into buying inferior food products, at the highest prices because they don't understand how easy these items are to prepare. As I mentioned earlier, this would be the 1st stage, followed by training in professional techniques, and food safety. Governor, I am coming to your state to start a business, but rather than helping myself, I would love to help others. I am writing you today to see if there are any people in your government that could aid me in start up, and to request any information on non profit start up in your state. Thankfully, Shawn W. Massey
