Bill lets people buy more guns

advertisement

Published Thursday, January 29th, 2004

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gun buyers could purchase more than one pistol at a time under a bill that cleared a Senate subcommittee Thursday.

Current state law limits people to buying no more than one pistol every 30 days.

Sen. Ronnie Cromer, R-Prosperity, says that prevents gun collectors from buying pistols with sequential serial numbers.

The State Law Enforcement Division says they only catch people breaking that law after a delay of months in reviewing applications.

The bill already has passed the House and now heads to the full Senate Judiciary Committee.
