Sanford To Attend Reagan Funeral

Governor To Bring Mother To Funeral

POSTED: 2:23 pm EDT June 10, 2004

A spokesman for Gov. Mark Sanford says the governor will attend the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan in Washington D.C. Friday.

In a press release, Will Folks said Sanford was invited to the funeral by the Reagan family.

Sanford will bring his mother, Margaret Sanford Peyton, to the funeral.

More than 4,000 people are expected for the Friday morning service at the National Cathedral. Seats have been set aside for South Carolina's U.S. senators and representatives.

The governor's office also announced a request for flags on all state buildings to fly at half-staff in memory of Reagan for a full month to coincide with President George W. Bush's similar proclamation for all federal buildings.
