NAGS HEAD, N.C. (AP) - Tropical Storm Ophelia is on its way toward New England. The storm is weakening and moving away from the North Carolina coast.

Track Ophelia

There are tropical storm warnings posted for Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Behind the storm, there is some damage and there were some power outages, but Carolina's three-day drenching wasn't as bad as some had feared. The evacuation order for Hatteras Island has been
lifted.

The storm is blamed for one traffic death, and a surfer is missing.

The National Hurricane Center says Ophelia's top sustained winds are 60 miles an hour. National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Jackson says these things are extremely difficult to forecast,
adding, "Ophelia has been a pain in the neck from the beginning."
