Many families I know lost most, if not all, of their homes and/or belongings due to flooding and FEMA has been distributing as little monies as they can. I had chimney/roof damage that my home insurance would not cover since it was just below my deductible and was denied any assistance from FEMA as they said the home must not be livable. So they DO NOT assist those folks with repairs apparently. I provided all documentation requested, photos of the damage, invoice for a contractor to repair damages, denial letter from my insurance and they had a FEMA inspector come out over 2 weeks after the damage to inspect my repairs because I had to have it fixed otherwise if it rained my roof would leak more. I simply was seeking any monetary assistance for the repairs ($1750)as we understood FEMA would assist with home repair damage as well as other losses. It was a great disappointment. We work very hard for the home we have and want nothing but to keep them safe and beautiful for our children. I hope you ask those residents who had requested FEMA assistant and were given little or none to report their information to your office for any assistance you might offer as a liaison to the Federal Government. Thank you for your consideration. Kacey Huff
