Hello, I would like Governor Haley to be aware of the injustice we have experienced with the SC social security office and disability determination services.  Among many medical conditions, my husband has Altzheimer's disease. He is a 58 year old, college educated man who had a high functioning career for thirty plus years and now has difficulty remembering what day it is or people's names, mixes up words, loses time and direction, has urinary incontinence, extreme fatigue and pain. The disability office denied his claim with an explanation that he "can adjust to other work".  So, he contacted voc rehab for assistance and they asked why he wants to work. No one seems to care. We are in dire financial need and submitted proof with the claim. He is only allowed to drive close to home and would need to wear a diaper if away longer than an hour. We realize other people abuse the system but my husband is an honorable man who has always provided for our family and would if he was capable.
