I am asking you to stand with other Governors to not accept any Syrian refugees to South Carolina. While as a mother I do realize that this is a human crisis, I also ask you as an American to protect our state and our nation and help the millions of those in poverty and in need here at home in the United States. We cannot risk the security of our nation at this point in time - we need to protect and defend our homeland. I realize that the leaders of our nation are torn on this issue, but I hope you stand with many other South Carolinians on this issue. As a solution - I offer this. If our nation does decide to take in refugees from Syria - then we the people ask that only mothers and small children be admitted - on a temporary basis. We should be keeping all men (including fathers) in Syria to fight their own civil war. This is not inhumane, but patriotic. Our military should not be involved in another nation's civil war and it should be the young and grown men of their own nation to defend their beliefs. After the war is resolved - the mothers and children can be sent back to their homeland. I hope that you stand with South Carolinians on this. Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Regards, Mary Murdough
