She has overcome so much in her short life of 10 years. She came to our program a very different child than she is today. She is now attending one regular education outside the Sandhills GNETS program. Sandhills is the place she began experiencing success at school. She still has some challenges, however is performing near grade level. She and her sister also have been fortunate to be adopted from the foster care program by two outstanding parents who have also played a major role in her success. Emmily is a true miracle of change. Her new Mom has been sharing this story on her facebook wall and may be willing to share more with you . She is still growing and learning, and I pray she will continue to grow and use all of her talents. I am so thankful for this positive moment in her life. She has been in my class for 3 years and I will likely have a few happy tears when she transitions back to regular classes later this year if all goes as planned. Our program is not set up to be a permanent placement. Our students more than most, learn that we can overcome adversity, and that difficult circumstances do not determine our future for success. I have been a part of GNETS sandhills for the past 16 years and it is a honor to help these students experience success. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I pray for strength for you and your staff as you face this enormous challenge , looking forward to the sunny days ahead. I myself have faced many personal challenges and recently purchased a bracelet that has two simple charms: the word "strength" and a small anchor. It reminds me that I will not sink and that my strength comes from God; His anchor is strong and He will help us through the rough waters we face. God bless you as you lead your state through these rough waters in the days ahead, being confident that SC will again see sunny skies. I loved your press conference this morning reminding your citizens of the celebration coming . I'm also happy that other children are now getting involved sending messages of hope and learning to reach out. I hope we can one day meet and we can thank you in person for all you've done to bring a positive message of hope. Please feel free to contact me or my director Kathy L. Hawkins for more information about our program. Contact information : 3110 Tate Road , Augusta, GA 30906 706 706 7791 my cell 706 631 8315
