I am a child of immigrants as well.
Integration and assimilation is essential to the continuance of the SAME rights for all our residents.  E.g. if some are forced to live under a system denying them basic US rights then there is a severe problem.  I am not singling out Sharia because some far end religious sects from Protestant and other religions and some cultures do the same thing.
I know first hand what happens when infiltration happens and with current resources and ROE there is NO way the FBI will be able to vet 100% as indicated.
One will lead to 5 which will lead to 25 and then to 125 and so on.  It is not a good thought.
The political, cultural, economic, religious and especially the potential number of deaths that could happen should keep anyone from letting it happen.
Please.  You have received bad advice or received undue pressure.  Regardless, fight it.  You have a much larger future voice that needs to be heard and if anything happens on your watch because of this both sides will destroy you with it.  You cannot allow that to happen.  Why?  We need you.  Eventually the country will need you.  PLEASE take a hard look and an even harder stand.  Any look at my medical record will show I had problems in 2011 but a closer look and simple talk to my doctors will prove it was overwork (or be replaced) by my company and 40 year old pain from old Army injuries (not combat, I will not steal valor).  I also simply do not lie.  PLEASE look at your policies in this area again.  You have power against Washington, it was ensured by the Constitution and all those patriots.  Use it.
