Governor Signs Bill Requiring Background Checks on Day Care and Nursing Facility Employees
May 22, 2002

The bill requires criminal record checks of direct caregivers employed by nursing homes, adult daycare facilities, home health agencies, and community residential care facilities. Facilities will be required to conduct criminal record checks on direct caregivers employed on July 7, 2002.

Governor Sign Economic Development Bill
May 15, 2002

Former Governor Carroll Campbell joined Governor Hodges at the signing ceremony. The bill that will increase the state's debt limit by one half percent. This increase will provide an additional $250 million for economic development projects that make a new investment of $400 million and create 400 new jobs in South Carolina.
