Hello Govenor Haley- my husband and I moved to Mount Pleasant, SC about a year ago from Orange County, CA. We are extremely concerned that you have not passed the cell phone initiative here in your state. Yes, you have the law for no texting while driving, thank you, but what about the hands free cell phone law while driving? In California, this law was passed in 2009, 7 years ago. No one may hold a cell phone in their hands to talk, while driving. Everyone has either Bluetooth, to a cord with one ear piece. I don't understand why this state of South Carolina is so far behind in the world? Don t you care about us as drivers and our safety? Please go the the dmv- gov site for California, and read the the laws . One is for no texting, and the other is for no holding of a cell phone. Please pass this law ASAP. We came here for the beauty of the state, and to be near our son, who moved here after graduating college, and recently got married, but I am appalled at the laws that are so far behind. No One should be able to hold a cell phone while driving. Unacceptable. Bluetooth is the only way to go. Please let me know what I can do to help you pass this law. I really don't understand what your thought process is. Thank you.
