We would first and foremost like to congratulate you on your nomination as ambassador to the United Nations. While planning Clemson University's Joint Army and Air Force Military Ball, your name as a Clemson alumna was unanimously suggested as a keynote speaker having a valuable message for the graduating class, leaving a lasting impact on our two ROTC programs. As you certainly are aware, the Military Ball is a special tradition rich with customs and courtesies, which allow us to connect with all those who have served before, those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and those currently serving. Our ball serves as a culminating event honoring our senior Cadets as they prepare to commission as Second Lieutenants in May 2017. ROTC instructors from various branches of the military, as well as leaders in the community will also be in attendance. We look for keynote speakers with unique leadership experiences from whom the Cadets can learn as they prepare to serve in the United States Military. Clemson alumni understand that the university was originally founded as a military college and retains a strong military heritage today. Your experience as not only the leader of our state, but as a military spouse yourself, would bring a unique perspective to our organization. To this end, we would like you to be our keynote speaker for the Spring 2017 Clemson ROTC Military Ball or the Commissioning Ceremony. We are considering the following dates for Military Ball: April 14, 21 or 28. At this point, the date and venue are both flexible, while the Commissioning date is set for May 10, 2017. With your new position and current responsibilities, we understand that this request would put additional demands on your time. However, we would be honored and grateful to share either of these special events with you. Please let us know at your earliest convenience if you are available to serve as our speaker so that we can ensure appropriate time to plan. We look forward to working with you in the future to make our Military Ball or Commissioning Ceremony a special and memorable occasion. Sincerely, Danielle Ayer Scabbard & Blade Commander Army ROTC
