Mary Pringle received the award April 21 in Charleston for her volunteer efforts and work with injured birds and sea turtles. She devotes countless hours to the International Center for Birds of Prey, a rehabilitation center that specializes in the care of injured and orphaned raptors. Pringle recently assumed the role of coordinating and training an extensive volunteer staff. On a particular occasion at the raptor center, stemming from a developer’s accidental removal of an osprey nesting site, Pringle worked with Berkeley Electric Co. to get a new platform constructed, complete with sticks and nest, and returned the orphaned ospreys to their home.
