There are so many reasons that my fiancé and I decided to relocate here, beautiful cities, beaches, history and a rich culture, that many "transplants" find so appealing about this wonderful state. Soon after I moved here, I saw the horrific display of hatred, that rattled Charleston this past summer. I was deeply moved by the people of the community and many within leadership here ,in South Carolina, that where able to transform that act into positive, loving and peaceful movement of brought a change that our nation so desperately needed. I ask, as man who sees the fear in his fiancé's eyes for her 5 yr old son, to join in with many of the other Governors, refusing to accept the Syrian refugees, that are seeking asylum here. My fiancé survived the World Trade Center attack on 9/11. As the towers came crashing down around her, she ran and some how managed to pick herself up, dust herself off, and try to move on with her life. A life that is layered with gruesome visions and PTSD, much like what is plaging our veterans. War is war, as it spares no one, but by saying "No", we have a chance to keep many of our innocent from knowing that hatred and fear.. . Sincerely, M Carter
