Charleston County School District School of the Arts, High School Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Selby was named Grand Prize Winner Public School Division at the 2016 National Orchestra Festival which took place in Tampa, Florida. The competition is sponsored by the American Strings Teachers Association. (Note the Second Grand Prize Winner was for Private School Youth Orchestra Division: a group known as Vivace from Poughkeepsie, New York). The two groups performed at the winners concert last Saturday, March 5, 2016.

This is a significant win for Charleston County School District as well as the State itself.
