It has been almost two months and I still have no corrected birth certificate with the proper name spelling. When I wrote before I was told it was turned over to a liaison for Vital Records and they would be contacting me to let me know why it is taking this lengthy amount of time. To date no one (liaison) has contacted me and I still have no corrected certificate, I went through all the procedures they wanted, sent all original documents they wanted and sent the required fees to make these changes as well as a signed notarized affidavit. This process is absolutely ridiculous and the time frame as well, it should not take the amount of time it is taking when I could walk in off the street and obtain this certificate within 30 or 45 minutes. I guess being an out of state resident a Georgia resident I just do not understand how this office operates. This has been going on since January 31, 2016. I may have slowed the process a couple of days myself by sending photostatic copies of my fathers birth certificate instead of the real true copy, the true copy was sent back the same day I received notice that they would have to have it, but it was only a couple of days as I made these corrections immediately and it was sent the same day I received notice. I feel now that they are sitting on this change due to the fact I contacted your office before, if someone did address this issue with Vital Records, this is unfair to residents of South Carolina as well as non residents.I am not writing as a spoiled child who is not getting their way I am 64 year old, I am just writing to let you all know what is taking place in this Vital Records Department and a deep concern for others who might be going through what I have had to go through and the hoops I have had to jump through. Please see my other e-mail I sent and this might make more sense when you read it. Vital Records did finally send me the affidavit to sign and have notarized after I contacted the Governors Office before, this Wednesday 3-16-16 will make three weeks since I sent the affidavit back to them with the fees to make the change.I realize they probably did not get the affidavit and payment until Friday 2-26-16 a money order was purchased 2-24-16 and affidavit and money order was mailed the same day from the Loganville, Ga. Post Office. My question I guess is if they can issue it on site in 30 to 45 minutes why does it take weeks to print it and mail it, they only accept money orders there is no time frame for check fund clearance a money order was sent for fees. This all started when I went to get my drivers license renewed and my name was misspelled on my birth certificate, have never noticed it was not spelled correctly in my 64 years of life, never needed to show a birth certificate until I went to get my drivers license renewed this year. Thanks, Harold Mallory Childers Loganvile, Georgia. 73.137.244.113
