Highlights of the governor’s $5.1 billion budget proposal



• Major restructuring of state government, including merging or eliminating 15 agencies. The State Museum would become private.

• Closing USC Union and USC Salkehatchie over three years, saving about $3 million a year. That money would go to other colleges.

• Creation of tax credits for some families to send their children to private schools, schools in other districts, or home schools.
