He will be the first candidate to run TV ads in the race for Ernest Hollings' U.S. senate seat.

Charleston republican Thomas Ravenel begins a $300,000 ad campaign next week.

Three others are seeking the GOP nomination as well including the former state attorney general Charlie Condon, Upstate Congressman Jim Demint, and Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride.

Democrats seeking the senate seat include Columbia Mayor Bob Coble, State Education Superintendent Inez Tenenbaum and Camden native Marcus Belk.

News Channel 7’s ADWatch will examine all of the ads and cut through the rhetoric to get to the truth.
