This letter is to thank the Governor for meeting with Zach Hammond's parents.  I have been following this case as well as other similar cases for the past several months and am growing increasingly concerned that the police are not opperating in the best interest of the public.  They appear to have the opinion that they are above the law and to some extent that appears to be the case.  The power that they have to take a life with little or no real justification creates a breeding ground for corruption.  If you combine that with the fact that many that become officers appear to do so to have the power of the gun and badge over others then you have a recipe for disaster.  Please help Zach's parents and also please help make the changes necessary to protect against further similar tragedies.
