Before we search for a position for me, I would like to share with you some of the hidden behaviors utilized by building principals, teachers and reading coaches. In Sumter County, there are the good old boys (girls) and they do black ball people from acquiring teaching positions in this county do to various reasons. Sure the military base also has an influence on teaching positions and a few positions have been held open for spouses and no one speaks about this. I graduated 12/09 (at that time I was 57) and applied for several positions, but have never been hired for a position in SC. I did do some subbing in Sumter, but it was an interim position then I took an interim position in North Carolina, because my student loans became do. In August, 2012, I took a permanent position with the Public Schools of Robeson County. My experience is 6th grade math, 3rd grade contained, and two (2) years as a 4th grade Science/Social Studies teacher. My certifications are current in South Carolina and North Carolina. We still have our home in Dalzell, SC and return to it every other week, barely paying student loans which have doubled from $219 to $493. During the past school year I have applied to several school districts in South Carolina, so that we could return home, had interviews (Florence 2, Richland One), but never heard from the human resource person when they said they would call. They may be busy, but what about the people waiting for an answer-do we count for anything or what? Why can these so call professions just back their word and call and let you know either way. We can handle the answer. I am willing to travel ¾ of an hour to teach our children. I have worked with no textbooks, no budget, promise of supplies that never appeared, being downgraded because I am not an American Indian, parents who think their child is the highest level student in the class when they aren't. My question to you is where are the teaching positions in South Carolina? Please advise.
