I have a 15 year old son on trial for murder. He has a diagonis of mental illness bipolar with pscychotic episodes and possible personality disorder, he also suffers from anxiety disorder and PTSD due to abuse suffered by his father.  I have for years tried to get him help but due to limited beds available for juveniles with mental illness he has slipped through the cracks og the system. He was in William S Hall psychiatric facility from april to august of 2013 and they released him despite my pleas that he was not stable (he was still calling threatening to harm me)after his release in less than 2 weeks he was in Self regional for a week with a commitment order but due to lack of beds available I was told I needed to bring him home and do outpatient mental health counseling.  I went to DSS in my county for help they turned me away saying he would receive the help he needed on an outpatient basis. Less than two months later he was charged and arrested for murdering a 23 year old man he was doing drugs with. The solicitors office have put in a motion to charge him as an adult and he receive no less than 30 years to life. My son claims the man grabbed his privates and made sexual inuendos and he thought he was gonna be raped. Im not trying to get my son off or out but I'm begging for help that he will get the psychiatric care he needs. He doesn't belong in prison he needs psychiatric help. There is so much more to this story eg. the number of times I called police for help and they wouldn't do anything, how his probation officer told me not to call her anymore unless something major happened because she had too many other kids on her books. This could have been prevented if the system would have done its job instead of letting it slip through the cracks. Please contact me so I can give many more details of how injustice is being done and if there is anything I can do to get my son proper help.
